Chicken Curry Salad with Couscous

Serves 4

1 lb. Cooked Chicken, chopped
1/3 cup raisins
1/3 cup almonds, chopped
1/3 cup celery, chopped
2 T. curry powder
1/4 cup light mayonnaise
salt & pepper
2 cups cooked couscous
Parsley & goat cheese to use as toppings (optional)

Directions:
Combine all ingredients and the serve on lettuce, bread, or a wrap.

Top 3 Causes of Damage to Hair

Physical- Vigorous combing and brushing can tear the hair, especially when the hair is wet.

Heat- Can rough up the outer layer of the hair and evaporate the natural moisture. A clogged filter on the back of your blow dryer can cause over-heating and singe your hair.

Weather- UV rays break down protein bonds when exposed to summer sun. If you are outside with wet hair in the winter then comb or brush your hair, the hair can snap.

HOW TO PROTECT/REPAIR YOUR HAIR FROM DAMAGE:

Physical- Use a detangler and start at the ends and slowly work your way up when combing wet hair. Avoid brushing until your hair is about 70% dry.

Heat- Use a heat protector on the hair prior to blow drying and flat ironing. Clean your blow dryer's filter on a regular basis.

Weather- Wear a hat when you are going to be in the sun for a long period of time and use style products with UV filters. Dry your hair at least 70% before going out in cold temperatures.

Get a jump start on repairing and/or protecting your hair from damage!

Colette’s Stuffed Peppers
Serves 4
Ingredients
Olive Oil
1 red onion, minced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
Salt & pepper
12 oz. Turkey Burger (You can use 6 oz. ground beef 6 oz. Italian sausage if you aren’t feeling healthy!)
1 can (14 ½ oz) diced tomatoes
¾ c. couscous
4 bell peppers Cut lengthwise and remove seeds & ribbing
½ shredded Monterey jack cheese
1 c. tomato sauce Plus more for topping (I prefer using homemade, but store bought is good too)
2 slices of bacon cut in half

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook about 3 minutes.
2. Add meat to skillet, and brown for 4 minutes. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and ¾ c. water. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in couscous.
3. Fill pepper halves with mixture. Top with a spoonful of tomato sauce, sprinkle of cheese, and a slice of bacon. Add ½ cup of water to the bottom of a glass baking dish. Arrange peppers and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 45 minutes. Remove aluminum foil and bake for 10-15 more minutes.
4. Enjoy!

Make-up- neutral, dark colored eye shadows, almost muddy.

Clothes- Cardigans & blanket coats, lots of bohemian trends.

Shoes- Boots, bold styles & patch leather.

You have the ability to try before you buy.

Containing UV Filters, thermal protection and anti-color fade technology, salon brands protect the investment you make on your hair.

Drug Store Products

Contain synthetic ingredients. Most contain waxes that coat your hair to give you the illusion of shiny, silky hair when, in actuality, they are doing nothing for the structure and integrity of your hair.

They are more expensive. You need more of the product for it to work, so you end up using about 5x more product to serve its purpose. This causes you to spend twice as much in a year on drug store products than salon products.

They have a high alkalinity. Your hair is acidic (4.5-5.5 on the pH scale) and by using a high alkaline product you are creating more tear on the outer layer of your hair.

You can't try before you buy.

No one is available or trained to thoroughly teach you how to use the products and what is best for your hair.

Contain a higher amount of cleansing surfactants such as sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate and ammonium lauryl sulfate; Which cause color to fade and damage due to the high amount of sufactants.

Mud Rub

I had Studio Z's new Mud Rub service done the other day and it was FABULOUS! Not only is the skin on my back the softest it has ever been, but I was not aware before the service that it removes the toxins from your system. I slept better that night than I had in a while and the next day, I felt so renewed that I am going to schedule my once a month treatment of the service. I would HIGHLY recommend the service to anyone. It was only a half an hour, but I was ready to go to sleep after the first 5 minutes!

Fifth Annula Rhumba for Rainbow Project Charity Event
Chelsea, Vicki, Kali and husband Bruce and I had a blast at the Rhumba Evant at the Marriot Friday night. The spectacular Latin Dancers Show was nothing but amazing. We are all going to take Salsa and rhumba lessons now. The tango dance would spice up anybody's marriage!
The director Sheryl Kato is a very good client of Studio Z Salon and one of our very favorite people. We were happy to be a part of this very special group and fund raising event.

WE WON!

The Party was a blast. Lots of fun interesting people, talk about great clothes, some people dressed up and typical Madison some people not. The format was different this year. In years past, there was a big ceremony where every award was announced and "special Madisonian's" were named.

This year was just a big party with a DJ and plenty of good food and cocktails.
